Jameela

Born into a traditional family in Pakistan, Jameela knows from childhood that the life expected of her does not reflect the person she sees within herself. As she grows older, the pressure to conform collides with an increasingly powerful desire to live authentically.

Leaving home for Karachi, Jameela finds friendship and belonging within a community of transgender women, but also encounters the discrimination, violence, and economic vulnerability that shape their lives. While pursuing her dream of becoming an actress, she must navigate love, loss, family, and the difficult cost of choosing a life on her own terms.

At its heart, Jameela is a story of self-discovery, chosen family, and the courage to insist on being seen. It follows one woman’s journey toward understanding that dignity and love are not things she must earn from the world, but things she is entitled to claim for herself.
